Events and Venues in Forte Affluence
The Pays de la Déodatie manages several high-traffic natural sites, some of which are particularly environmentally sensitive. By installing five Kiomda counting devices, the region can track attendance trends and assess the pressure exerted by visitors on these fragile environments.
"Our counters allow us to estimate visitor numbers across five natural tourist sites and measure the pressure they experience due to high foot traffic."
This monitoring is essential for adapting site management and anticipating infrastructure upgrades to balance tourist appeal with the preservation of natural spaces.
The collected data is primarily intended for elected officials and is presented through reports and presentations. The team exports figures in Excel format, allowing for in-depth analysis before incorporating the results into decision-making materials.
"The data is exported to Excel, refined, and then integrated into presentations for the elected officials."
This tracking and analysis work helps guide decisions regarding site development and environmental protection.
The attendance data serves as a quantitative basis for decision-making, allowing site management plans to be adjusted according to actual visitor usage.
A particularly striking example is the Cascade site, where the data revealed an annual attendance of 230,000 visitors. Given the site's small size, such high traffic levels prompted consideration of new infrastructure to better manage visitor flow and limit environmental impact.
"We measured that the fragile Cascade site receives 230,000 visitors annually, which is a lot for such a small area and requires new infrastructure."
An area for improvement has been identified regarding malfunction detection. Currently, if a counter fails and the data isn't monitored daily, the issue can go unnoticed for several days, resulting in data loss.
"An automatic alert system when a counter stops working would be welcome. We had a counter that took on too much moisture, and we didn’t notice it for several days."
Implementing such a system would allow for faster intervention and improve the reliability of the data collected.
Thanks to Kiomda counters, the Pays de la Déodatie now has a detailed understanding of visitor flow across its natural sites. This data supports decision-making related to site management, preservation efforts, and the optimization of tourism infrastructure.
