Events and Venues in Forte Affluence
As part of the development of a soft mobility route parallel to a departmental road, the municipality of Beaupréau-en-Mauges installed a Kiomda counter to measure the usage of this infrastructure.
Since the department co-funded part of the project, it is necessary to provide regular, quantified data on the traffic levels along the new pathway.
The decision to use Kiomda was based on several key factors:
✔ Simple and quick installation, allowing for immediate deployment.
✔ Discreet and aesthetically pleasing sensors, blending seamlessly into the landscape.
✔ A reliable solution that provides actionable data to justify public investment.
"The counters are discreet, aesthetically pleasing, and easy to install within the environment."
The collected data is used at multiple levels:
✔ At the municipal level, by local elected officials and technical teams responsible for mobility and infrastructure.
✔ At the departmental level, to justify the usage of the soft mobility link and track traffic patterns in connection with the road infrastructure.
The data is compiled into consolidated reports, making it easier to analyze attendance trends and track the evolution of local mobility.
The primary goal of the counter was not to make immediate decisions but rather to assess how the soft mobility route was used compared to the departmental road.
The flow analysis helped better understand local mobility habits and revealed unexpected behaviors. One surprising finding was a spike in usage on Tuesdays after 10:00 PM, which caught the municipal team off guard.
With the counter’s data, they discovered that the local football team players were using the path to return home after their weekly training sessions.
"We did not expect a peak in usage on Tuesday nights. Without the counter, we would never have learned that the football team used the soft mobility link after training."
Thanks to Kiomda counters, the municipality of Beaupréau-en-Mauges now has reliable and continuous data on the usage of its soft mobility route. This data not only helps justify the departmental grant, but also provides valuable insights into local travel patterns.
